Study Information

Pneumonia Vaccine

Over 1 million people in the United States are hospitalized with pneumonia annually (CDC). Approximately 50,000 people die from the disease every year in the United States. Most of those affected by pneumonia in the United States are adults.

The pneumonia vaccine helps prevent pneumococcal disease. Side effects of pneumococcal disease can be deadly, which is why it is so important that you are vaccinated. To protect yourself against pneumococcal disease, you must get a series of two vaccines. We are currently conducting a research study that combines these two pneumonia vaccines into one. This new vaccine was also developed to protect people against more resistant strains of pneumonia that the vaccine currently on the market does not cover. We are seeking people over the age of 50 who have not yet had a pneumonia vaccine to participate.

Our qualified study participants may receive:

  • Quality medical care at no charge
  • Compensation for time and travel
  • Confidential study-related exams
  • Access to the study vaccine
  • One-on-one, private visits
  • Flexible appointment hours
